merely like any early major city, exchange rates can vary between different places to change your money. Choose right and you can save a few extra baht ; choose incorrectly and you ’ ll end up paying extra in the form of a less competitive exchange rate and higher commissions .
Most currency switch over businesses in Bangkok will require you to display your pass, even for little amounts of money. Some will accept a transcript of your passport, but it ’ s best to bring the real thing to avoid being turned away.

We ’ ve listed all of the places you can change money in Bangkok below, beginning with the best options from a prize perspective and finish with the most costly, least recommend ones.

Super Rich Thailand

  • Super Rich Thailand is a popular currency exchange business that can be found in most of Bangkok’s business and tourist areas. You will almost always get the best rates from Super Rich, making this the best place to go if you need to convert money into or from Thai baht.
  • Note that “Super Rich Thailand” is not the same as “Super Rich 1965”, which is a different currency exchange business you can read more about below.
  • Most of the Super Rich branches are open from 11am until 8pm, with the exception of the main office on Ratchadamri Soi 1. The local branches in BTS stations and shopping malls will usually accept most major world currencies, while the main branch is the place to go if you have a rare currency that isn’t widely used in global commerce or from outside of Southeast Asia.
  • There are several Super Rich branches in Bangkok. We’ve listed all of their locations below, including the Super Rich exchange booths set up in BTS stations:
    • 45 Ratchadamri Soi 1. This is the head office of Super Rich. Open from 9am until 6pm all week, you can trade 34 currencies here. Note that this office does not sell any foreign currencies on Sundays and public holidays — these days are buy only. You can contact the Super Rich head office by phone on +66 02 655 2488.
    • Siam Paragon. There’s a Super Rich branch on the third floor of Siam Paragon, in the north zone of the mall.
    • Emporium. Super Rich has a small branch on the B1 floor of Emporium Shopping Centre, right beside Phrom Phong BTS station.
    • National Stadium. You can find a Super Rich branch right beside National Stadium BTS station, close to Lub D Bangkok Siam.
    • BTS Chong Nonsi. There’s a Super Rich exchange centre inside BTS Chong Nonsi, close to Exit 4.
    • Central Rama 9. There’s also a Super Rich branch on the fifth floor of the Central Rama 9 shopping mall, which you can access from Praram 9 MRT station.
    • Asiatique. Super Rich has a branch in Asiatique The Riverfront at booth KK25 that’s open from 5pm until 9:30pm and until 10pm from Friday to Sunday.
    • Suvarnabhumi Airport. If you’re flying into or out of Bangkok and need to exchange money, there’s a Super Rich counter on Floor B of Suvarnabhumi Airport.
    • Other branches: Super Rich also has branches at Future Park, The Maharaj and several other shopping malls, which you can view on their contact page. You can also find location maps for each branch on the contact page, or simply search on Google Maps so you dan use your phone to navigate to the branch.

Super Rich 1965

  • Super Rich 1965 is another popular currency exchange business. Confusingly, this business is not the same as Super Rich Thailand. Even more confusingly, the two companies have offices very close to each other on Ratchadamri Road.
  • Rates at Super Rich 1965 are very good, with low fees and exchange rates that are just about completely identical to Super Rich Thailand
  • There are several Super Rich 1965 branches throughout Bangkok. The most convenient ones can be found at:
    • 67 and 69 Ratchadamri Rd. This is the head office of Super Rich 1965. It’s open from 9am until 6pm from Monday to Friday and 9am until 5pm on Saturdays.
    • Silom Complex. Super Rich 1965 has a branch inside Silom Complex, close to Sala Daeng BTS station.

Grand Superrich

  • Believe it or not, there’s also a currency exchange business called Grand Superrich. Rates here are almost identical to the other two Super Rich exchanges listed above.
  • You can find Grand Superrich at 21, 23 and 25 Ratchadamri Soi 1, a short walk away from the main offices of Super Rich Thailand and Super Rich 1965. This one is open from 9am to 6:30pm from Monday to Friday and 9am until 5pm on Saturdays.

Siam Exchange

  • Open since 1972, Siam Exchange also offers competitive exchange rates and low fees. This currency exchange business is located at 422/3 Phayathai Rd, a short walk from MBK, Siam Discovery and Siam BTS station.

Vasu Exchange

  • If you’re staying close to Nana BTS station and don’t want to take the BTS or a taxi to a Super Rich branch, you can exchange your foreign currencies with similar fees and exchange rates using Vasu Exchange on Sukhumvit Soi 7/1.

ATM Machines

  • Most ATM machines in Thailand offer competitive exchange rates, meaning you’ll get the best value for money by withdrawing money from your home bank account and letting the bank that operates the ATM convert it into Thai baht.
  • Keep in mind that almost all ATM machines in Thailand charge a 150 to 180 baht transaction fee, even on small transactions. It’s best to withdraw several thousand baht at once you reduce the amount of your money that’s spent on ATM fees. Remember that this transaction fee is separate from any fees your home bank may charge you for withdrawing cash.

Banks

  • Most bank branches in Bangkok will offer a currency exchange service, although some will only deal with major currencies. The exchange rates offered at bank branches tend to be the same as the amount you’d pay to convert money by withdrawing from your account at an ATM.
  • Since just about every major mall in Thailand contains at least one bank, this is a convenient option if you’re out shopping and need to quickly exchange some cash for Thai baht.

Suvarnabhumi Airport

  • With the exception of the Super Rich branch near the Airport Link station in the basement, the currency exchange windows at Suvarnabhumi Airport are nothing to write home about. Rates and fees here are on the high side, meaning you’ll get less for your money than elsewhere.
  • Changing small amounts of money at Suvarnabhumi Airport won’t cost you much, but it’s best to either make your way down to the basement to visit Super Rich or use one of the other currency exchange options listed above after you’ve made your way into the city.

Hotels

  • You’ll find currency exchange desks at most major hotels in Bangkok. While these are an okay option if you’re in a hurry, it’s best to avoid them for anything other than small amounts of cash, as the fees range from expensive at best to exorbitant at worst.
  • Most hotels aren’t far from a bank or shopping mall, meaning you can save quite a lot simply by walking to the nearest bank branch to exchange your money.
