    Hi Marisa!
I’ve made this conditioner twice and really enjoy it! However halfway through my second bottle and the sprayer is starting to clog up. I don’t know what could be the issue, I add the Optiphen Plus preservative every time. This 2nd batch is only a little over a month old. I don’t shake it really hard before use, I kind of just swirl it around as I thought shaking vigorously was causing it to happen, but it isn’t. I have taken the spray top off washed it out and run warm water through it and it works fine. It’s only after I put it back on the conditioner that it starts to clog up again. Has this ever happened to you? Any advice? Thanks a bunch!

I just tried this recipe. It did not work well for me at all. It left my hair really greasy. The next day it looked like my hair was still wet. In hindsight I can't help but notice that this woman never did show us what her hair looked like after she used it, lol. I might try it again but with less coconut milk, like maybe 1 teaspoon instead of 2 tablespoons.

Hi Marisa, I will be making this soon! I’m wondering if I can just make the coconut milk homemade for this recipe and it turn out well? I have looked high and low and cannot find any canned coconut milk that doesn’t have those nasty thickeners and additives. Thank you! 😊

    DIY Heat Protectant Spray
    1/3 c distilled water
    1 tsp Aloe Vera gel
    1 tsp Vitamin E oil
    1 tsp Grape Seed Oil
1 tps African Shea Butter (melted; liquefied)
    6 drops preserative
10 drops of your choice essential oil

    1. Add all ingredients together in a small bowl and mix (leave water for last)
    2. Then pour ingredients into ur 2oz bottle
    3. Lastly, fill bottle with the distilled water and shake well.
**Note: I had a little of the 1/3 c water left. That's ok. Use it for another time.
    SHAKE WELL BEFORE EACH USE.
This makes a 2oz travel size spray bottle.

Am I missing the name of the preservative? I see the water filter name but not the the preservative. It’s very possible I’m skipping right over it but I have looked like 5 times now. 🤦🏻‍♀️Could you please tell me the name?🙏🏻 thank you!!!

  6. Shell Bell says:

I can't find the preservative you use in the UK. I was wondering about borax – I have used it as a preservative in moisturisers however I'm not sure how it would be incorporated into this recipe as it would need to be dissolved first. Any suggestions on another preservative / how to incorporate borax? Also wondering how long the leave in keeps with a preservative? Thanks Marissa!
